Flush-mount Installation

    Vernon Manufacturing

       Automatic Water Salesman

VERNON MANUFACTURING RECOMMENDS THAT A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN PERFORM THIS WORK.  ALL MACHINES SHOULD BE INSTALLED USING A DEDICATED CIRCUIT AND SURGE PROTECTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL BUILDING CODES.  CHANGES IN WIRING OR OBVIOUS SHORTING WILL VOID WARRANTY.

Since each installation is different, mounting hardware is not furnished and the following are general instructions only.  Your application will dictate the hardware needed.  We recommend ½” carriage bolts, washers, and nuts to mount the Flush-mount System to your wall.  Please follow local codes for any electrical or plumbing installations.  An awning, or similar cover over the unit, will help keep out moisture, and keep customers dry.

An 18” x 18” opening is required for the standard Currency/Coin unit.  If your unit also accepts credit cards, be sure to allow for the stub mount antenna.  The 24” x 24” aluminum plate has four ½” mounting holes on 22½” centers.  Measure and drill the mounting holes in your wall and mount the assembly.

Install the valve in your water line either horizontal or vertical.  Flow direction is marked.  Protect it from freezing.  A gate valve (not furnished) mounted ahead of the water valve aids in cleaning and repair.  Install the piping, valves, drains, back flow preventers and other devices in accordance with local codes.

PLEASE NOTE:  Valve port #4 must be open to air—DO NOT PLUG THIS HOLE.

At the valve, tie the black wires, and red wires, from each solenoid together in parallel.  Bring only one wire per color through the ½” connector to the terminal strip.  Crimp the forked wire ends on and connect them to the corresponding black (#6) and red (#7) positions on the terminal strip.  See the wiring sticker.

Card Reader:  Download this program to manage your card accounts.  If you have problems, call and I will email you this link.

Key Switch Override:  If so equipped, city personnel can obtain water without having to use money.  Simply insert the key and turn.  It is labeled “CITY USE ONLY”.

Automatic Drain:  If so equipped, tie both solenoids in parallel as described above.  Be sure the green ground wire is tied under a bolt on the valve.

Choice Switch:  If so equipped, bring the black wires from the different valves in to the designated positions on the terminal strip as explained above.  At the valves, tie all the red wires together and bring only one wire in to the red (#7) position on the terminal strip.  NOTE:  Some machines are equipped with two timers for different size valves.  Bring the individual valve wires in to the indicated terminal position.

Except for power wires to the valve, no other internal wiring is necessary.  Refer to the wiring sticker in the box.

To set the timer to deliver the amount of water you want to sell, follow the instructions on the Timer Settings sheet.
